An absolutely beautiful day here - perfect blue sky and 25C. Not very Halloweenish. We had decided to go to Escape Beach but when we got down there, the Beach Club had been dismantled for the winter. Not a lounger in sight. Bob hates sitting on the sand so we decided to go home and lie out around our pool instead. The pool has cooled quite a bit since we arrived. At the end of September it was 89F and this morning it was 72F. Still warm enough for swimming if a bit bracing on entry. It's too hot not to swim though. You just have to grit your teeth and then after a couple of minutes, it's lovely. Stayed around the pool all day. Had a bit of excitement when I found a whole host of large fungi growing under a pine tree. at first we thought they were Red Pine toadstools which are edible. But then we decided they were Jack O' Lanterns which are toxic. They were pretty toxic looking. Lucky I didn't fry them up! Very suitable for Halloween though. They glow with bio luminescent light apparently. In the evening Bob watched the Rugby World Cup final on tv. We can stream it via the BBC player. Our satellite package gives us quite a few English language stations but not the regular tv ones so we stream or download to the Ipad and then play it on the tv. After that we scooted up to Lapta to a restaurant we like called Charco's. It's in an old converted Cypriot house, with a lovely outside terrace and inside decorated with frescoes and paintings executed by one of the owners. It's very quirky and picturesque. The meal is Cypriot. You choose your main course which determines the price and then you get lots of extras. We both chose lamb chops as the main - utterly delicious. Before that we had a bowl of their wonderful lentl soup which is thick and just so tasty. Then the main is served with a large bowl of salad and also one of home made chips. Really good. After that you get dessert (home made almond cream cake) and then coffee and brandy or liqueur. All of this for a princely 36 yt or £8. Incredible value. Charco's is tricky to find but worth the trouble. Head to Lapta (left at the bottom of our hill. Take any of the signed roads up the hill to Lapta. You will come to a T junction. Turn right and drive all the way through the village and then follow the road left uphill again towards Baspinar. Keep going and you will come to Lapta town hall. Take the right fork that goes under the town hall and around it. Charco's is ahead of you on a corner. When we got home the moon was up and very misty and atmospheric. Halloween after all. |

Reading your blog every day I just love it. I imagine being there with you both and joining in the fun. Would have enjoyed the garden centre and approve of all your purchases, how exciting. Keep up the good work.
