Bob and Stuart were off at 9 to play a round of golf at the very fabulous Korineum Golf and Country Club. http://www.korineumgolf.com/golf/about-korineum-golf-course/ It's about 40 minutes from the villa and a totally fabulous facility. A wonderfully groomed course, surely the equal of any in Europe, ecologically state of the art and complete with Academy, driving range, practice course, spa and gourmet restaurant in the clubhouse. Fi and I pegged out by the pool all day. It was so peaceful and nice. I read several books and swam , bobbed about in one of the rings and nearly fell asleep in it. It was very hot today but there was quite a breeze blowing. Down at sea level it was positively windy: about a Force 6. The sailing gulets were out but I can't have been the best day for a boating trip. The boys came back about 5! Bob came p the steps like Douglas Bader after the operations. soooooo stiff and crocked. They'd had a buggy but it's a really really long course and they reckoned they'd walked about 3 miles, not to mention all the swinging etc. They reckoned it was one of the most challenging courses they'd ever played. Very enjoyable and gorgeous but hard, hard, hard...... Still for any experienced golfers out there, a top day out. They teed off at 1130 and finished at 1645 so a long round. After they'd had a hot shower and recovered a bit we went out for dinner. Tonight we went to the Stonegrill which is about a mile away - not a long drive. Their premise is that you cook your own food on a very very hot stone. The meal starts - of course - with meze and it was a good selection and a simply superb salad with a pomegranate dressing. Then we'd all made the same choice of entrée which was fillet steak with little pots of sauce: mushroom, pepper and bbq. The steaks were absolutely first class, thick and very well aged. So tender. Of course I cooked mine for a minimal amount of time and it was perfect. Everyone really enjoyed the meal. Again, including wine, the whole meal came to about £14 per head. Stunning value and highly recommended. |
